| Birthday pancake breakfast with homemade strawberry syrup and whip cream |
My poor little neglected blog. (My desktop is back from surgery and I have a camera again) There is hope for this thing after all.
So, it's my birthday, not just any birthday, my 30th birthday! I'm a big believer in birthdays being special days and that one should have an extraordinary day with fun and surprises! So far, today has lived up to my slightly ridiculous expectations, thanks to a wonderful husband and son and the day is only going to get better!
I've been thinking about this milestone, 30, and consequently leaving my 20's. I have loved my 20's! It has been an eventful 10 years:
I graduated from college.
I met, dated, & married John.
I've had a lot of professional success and satisfaction.
I've birthed two amazing children.
Been challenged and blessed beyond belief
Have become myself. I talk about this often, but I love looking back and the LeeElle from 2002 and the 2012 LeeElle and seeing the growth, maturity, and improvement. I can only imagine how fulfilling this can be with each decade.
I doubt any other decade will be as life changing as my 20's and while there is a twinge of sadness to be leaving behind such a wonderful time period in my life, I'm positive it's only going to get better.
Because I'm trying to do this with my kids I thought I would do a variation for me

Right now my life is busy (has it ever not been? Answer-no) with family, work, church, life! John has been gone a lot but this new job has been better on his/our schedule. Cohen and Brynn keep me on my toes and most days there's nothing I'd rather do than be with them, though it should be noted that I enjoy the reprieve that work brings. I'm interpreting at USC and find it to be extremely stimulating and challenging (Kierkegaard anyone?). I'm primary president and constantly finding myself involved in many many things. Still not good at doing everything, I've let go of having the clean organized house every second of the day. I've been trying to simplify my life this year and while many would say that I am far from my goal, I know I am pairing down, have said no (something that is hard for me) and limited myself in many areas. I have great friends. I'm blessed to be in such a good place.

2012 leeelle is way less dramatic than 2003 leeelle too.
LeeElle! I loved reading your 30 post! (I miss those days!) I love your wonderful view/outlook you have on life. Keep up the good work! You are a sweetie pie!
Awesome LeeElle! You have the same feelings that I had when I left my 20's behind! I got married at 20 and had 4 kids during that time. It was very eventful for me!! You sounds great! Awesome that you are Primary President. I am sure you are amazing at it!! Happy Birthday! Welcome to the 30's club...it ain't so bad!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
30....Man, are we really that old?! It is kinda hard to believe. I always thought that 30-year olds were soooo OLD! For me....countdown of 2 months, and I will NO LONGER be Primary President. That is a tough calling. I'm sure you are getting a second go-round on that calling since you are just so amazing!!
Love this! What is so great about you LeeElle (that I really look up to and TRY to do) is that you are progressive, want to keep improving, achieving goals, self-evaluating, etc. I cant say that for everyone. It seems like a simple thing but really requires focus. So good job making the most of your 20's and good luck with your 30's!
I've missed the blog posts! Glad you had a great 30th and glad you are looking forward to the years ahead. Not many people do that - why not?? What a better way to live!
Happy (belated) birthday. We miss you guys! Brad and I are always talking about how nice it would be if we lived closer. We had so many fun times.
